As part of the festivities, the resort hosted a “Young Chef Nutrition Workshop” at the
Hangtou Primary School in Shanghai’s Pudong New District. The workshop featured
lessons about nutrition and health as well as practice in making and tasting
healthy food, bringing an educational and engaging experience to nearly 100
students.
Darlene Brady, Director of Food & Beverage Operations at
Shanghai Disney Resort, and Dr. Zang Jiajie, Nutrition and Health Expert at the
Shanghai Disease Control and Prevention Center, kicked off the event with a
talk on the importance of nutrition and healthy living.
Following the discussion on nutrition, students put on their
white chef hats and headed to the much anticipated cooking class. Under careful
guidance from Shanghai Disney Resort chefs, students chose from a variety of healthy
and nutritious ingredients to create a salad in the shape of Mickey’s head. At
the end of the session, each student was awarded with a “Young Chef Nutrition
Workshop Certificate of Completion”. A big congratulations to these young chefs!
Meanwhile, on the school playground, Shanghai Disney Resort
Ambassadors and volunteers from the Disney VoluntEARS program organized a fun
trivia game to test students’ knowledge on healthy eating. The winners were
overjoyed to receive special gifts prepared by Shanghai Disney Resort.
Lunch time! At the end of the workshop, the culinary team
prepared a nutritious buffet lunch for the students. With salad, fruit, a main
course, and even dessert, each dish brought with it a taste of the magical and
nutritional dining experience offered at Shanghai Disney Resort.
